I’ve photographed so many friends’ wedding this year, new friends, old friends and friends of friends, which is always lovely and a pleasure to do. This friend, Charlotte, Ive known from a long, long time ago, our little group doing our best to study hard at college whilst having an eye for fun, fashion and style; Our Charlotte had the best eye for style, always looking beautiful, wearing the coolest clothes and the friend we all knew our parents would love but with a wicked sense of humour; we’ve remained friends for over 20 years. Dearest Charlotte always wanted to get married and today was her day. Nick, a similar character, unassuming and so well mannered waited patiently for his bride to arrive at the gorgeous Islington Town Hall on Upper Street in London, I always enjoy a wedding in London, especially when it is to see two so well suited people come together to promise to love each other forever.
Charlotte so carefully chose her outfit: Vintage skirt, sheer top and a stunning headpiece, the morning was calm as her and the bridesmaids got ready for the biggest day. Their friends and family waited patiently for them to say their vows, coupled with beautiful readings and a good throw of confetti, we all bundled into red routemasters for a bus drive around London. With champagne flowing, we arrived at the perfectly located Amadeus Venue in Little Venice.
A cake contest, sharing platters and fairy lights. Heartfelt speeches and Charlotte changing into her converse chucks for the dancing, it was all round a perfect day for this amazing couple.
You deserve the best C. You’ve always been an amazing friend and we’ve seen and been through a lot. It was just heart swelling to join you on your day. Biggest love to you both. xxx
What can I say?… Once upon a time there was a girl called Kate… She was a strong beautiful girl who turned into a fantastic brilliant woman who is my dear friend…. She waited for Mr Right for a long time and then all of a sudden her prince charming arrived. One of the most emotional weddings Ive shot so far, my lovely friend Kate and her Charlie. Set in the town where Kate grew up with her beautiful sisters, Kate and Charlie married in Tunbridge Wells in Kent at the beautiful church in the Pantiles. Charlie obviously taken aback at the sight of his bride walking towards him down the aisle; Kate wore a stunning Sophia Tolli gown and her make up was expertly done by her sister Georgia . After an emotional ceremony they headed over to the pub for a congratulatory drink with all their nearest family and friends. My second shooter for the day was the amazing Carly from Kooky Weddings and we flitted between guests and family, capturing the day together with ease, often interrupted by Rupert the master of ceremonies, Kate’s closest male cousin and fellow photographer, with a glass of champagne or two.
The reception was held back at Kate’s parents’ beautiful home adorned with a woodland back yard and a stunning field next door to house the perfectly planned and meticulously designed marquee. (We knew it would be a stylish wedding Kate.)
Vanity Fair inspired group photographs and woodland set speeches at dusk, marshmallows in the fire-pit and sparklers to start off the music and dancing, seriously this wedding was the stuff of dreams.
Spending time with these people is heart-warming and working with Kooky shooting my friends wedding was a pleasure. Seeing you two get hitched was stunning and felt so right.
You two are amazingly matched, hilarious, crazy and so, so, down to earth, even though your wedding was fairytale. What an honour to be your wedding photographer for the day. Happy life you two. You deserve it.
“There could have been no two hearts so open, no tastes so similar, no feelings so in unison”
(Jane Austen – Persuasion)
Being asked to shoot Sam and Elly’s wedding, I knew it would be a good one. Not just the dress and all the details but when you’re asked to shoot a wedding for two people who are so obviously meant to be, its a no-brainer. Watching these two all day was such a pleasure. Elly getting ready at their home with her lovely friends supporting her, she was very calm, but then she had a moment of realisation that today it was happening and the emotion was a bit much. So lovely to see a bride so in love with her man.
Arriving at the wedding in Lewes Town Hall it was one of the hottest days of the year, Mark the best man waiting in the wings ready to greet the bridesmaids and then it was Elly’s turn to walk towards Sam who was waiting patiently for her. The congregation was such a lovely mix of close friends and family, all filled with emotion for Elly and Sam, the couple who everyone knows will be together forever. Jude their son watching close by with Nanny and all the parents, so proud.
Sam and Elly’s reception was in a beautiful setting near Barcombe, Lewes on the edge of a wheat field, the perfect British landscape, a cool breeze arriving as everyone sat to be welcomed by Elly’s father.
The cupcakes, the table decorations, the dress, the shoes, all perfect but nothing beat the feeling that these two radiate. Its like they made a pact a long, long time ago to be the tightest team, best friends and lovely parents to little Jude.
Such a pleasure you two. We all think you’re the sweetest couple x
