Natural Light.

I’m a big fan of natural light. Recently, a question that has come up a few times when meeting new wedding clients, is whether I use flash and if I bring lighting equipment with me to a wedding. My usual answer in no. Mostly because I’m trying to keep things as natural as possible and I think that, although flash and lighting can create some spectacular images in other circumstances, weddings are about being “you” are they not?

I could lug about big lighting equipment and reflectors of course, but this would make me a different kind of  wedding photographer and defeat the whole object of being “in the moment” and unobtrusive. If the venue is dark then Ill set my ISO high and if its pitch black then yes, Ill use a flash attached to my camera but even during the first dance I’m pushing it and using the natural lighting as much as possible. It helps you receive honest and romantic images I hope and of course, I want to capture you as naturally as possible…..
